Grade 54 Quantitative Filter Paper Hardened Low Ash, sheet, 460 570 mm Grade 54 sheets, hardened low ash, 460 x 570 mm. Hardened low ash: 0.015% ash maximum. These filters are treated with a strong acid to remove trace metals and produce high wet strength and chemical resistance. Thesy are particularly suitable for Buechner filtration where the tough smooth surface of the filter makes it easy to recover precipitates. The maximum ash content of these grades is intermediate between ashless and qualitative grades. They are particularly suitable for Buechner filtrations where it is desirable to recover the precipitate from the filter surface after filtration. Other characteristics include high wet strength and chemical resistance, which are similar to those of the acidhardened ashless filter papers. Very fast filtration for use with coarse and gelatinous precipitates. High wet strength makes this grade very suitable for vacuumassisted fast filtration of "difficult" coarse or gelatinous precipitates. Grade 54: 22 µm
