Anti-Contactin-2 (N-terminal) is produced in rabbit using as immunogen a synthetic peptide conjugated to KLH. Contactin-2 (CNTN2), also known as TAG-1, axonin-1, Tax, astaxanthin (AXT), is an axonal glycoprotein, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 1q32.1. The encoded protein is a member of neuronal cell adhesion molecules of the immunoglobulin superfamily (IgCAMs). The protein contains six extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and four fibronectin III-like domains.
Contactin-2 is a cell adhesion molecule produced abundantly in Purkinje cells that make up the distal component of cardiac conduction system. It is anchored to the cell membrane by glycan phosphatidyl inositol and is secreted into the extra cellular matrix.
Specificity
Anti-Contactin-2 (N-terminal) specifically recognizes human contactin-2.
Anti-Contactin-2 (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit specifically recognizes the N terminal region of human contactin-2.

Biochem/physiol Actions
The interaction of CNTN2 with APP increases γ-secretase-mediated release of APP intracellular fragment (AICD), inducing a Fe65- dependent suppression of neurogenesis. Mutation in the gene causes Alzheimer′s disease (AD).
Contactin-2 is a critical for neuronal patterning and ion channel clustering. It has key functions in neurogenesis and morphogenetic functions. Contactin-2 repairs the neurons and its expression increases highly post central nervous system injury.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phos­phate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers,is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
